The project involves the development of novel analytical techniques and their application to a unique sample set to provide exciting new constraints on important geological events.
Foster, Evans and Milton will lead on method development, and all supervisors will steer the scientific direction of the project, including the scientific application of the developed techniques.
Foster, Evans and Milton will train and mentor the student in the relevant analytical techniques and directly aid in the development of the novel methodologies. Interpretation of results will be carried out by the student with the aid of all supervisors. Supervision will be facilitated by regular team meetings as required.
Zachos and Babila will remotely attend a selection of these meetings and host the student for at least one extended period during the studentship.
Zachos and Babila will lead the field aspects of the proposal and ensure the student has access to legacy and recently acquired samples from the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Plain in the US and will supervise the student during continental drilling.
