In this project we will use cutting edge numerical simulations using the AREPO code with custom star formation modules to investigate the connection between galaxies and the stars forming within them.
Using a unique tracer zoom technique we will model both the formation of stars and the galactic environment at the same time.
A chemical network combined with post-process radiative transfer will allow us to connect our models with observations and directly test our predictions. This will allow us to test the relative importance of different physical forces in the star formation process. Examples of effects that we will include are magnetic fields, supernovae feedback, photoionisation, and minor mergers.
