Bringing together Scotland's leading experts in Early Prehistory for the first time, this project will address a recognised skills gap within the heritage sector, and help National Museums Scotland (NMS) prepare for the forthcoming redesign of its flagship Early People gallery.
It will draw from understudied NMS collections and previously overlooked regional assemblages to confront enduring biases in our understanding of Scotland's Early Prehistory.
Through this work, the CDA will produce a highly trained stone tool analyst to unlock the potential of stone tools as heritage assets to inform our understanding the enigmatic hunter-gatherer societies of Scotland's past.
