Physical activity has been shown to improve population health, but engagement is disproportionate across different demographics. Policy makers seek to intervene in the population to promote physical activity. However, interventions can have varying effects on individuals, often worsening the inactivity in certain groups.
Modelling the effectiveness of physical activity interventions must, therefore, capture the complexity of real-world systems. We propose hybrid simulation as the solution, combining agent-based simulation with system dynamics.
