Archaeological heritage is omnipresent in the Mediterranean area, embedded in the fabric of contemporary urban cities and towns.
Subject to various designations and levels of protection, it is imputed with numerous values and meanings, including social and personal ones, and is routinely used in a variety of ways by inhabitants of urban areas today.
This study aims to improve understanding about these meanings, uses and benefits by examining the interactions with the heritage focusing on how these can impact the wellbeing of citizens.
The study will challenge and broaden existing interpretations of heritage and increase relevance of heritage management practices.
