Grant Description

Using Cluster observations to determine the properties of quasi-parallel shock phenomena and investigate how these properties are affected by upstream conditions in the solar wind, and how this affects particle acceleration at shocks.

Eventually, this will extend to observations of bow shocks at other planets, enabling a wider range of shock parameters to be studied.
