The project will involve the data analysis from the LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) dark matter experiment. The experiment is currently operational and is collecting data. The detector is located at the SURF underground Laboratory in the USA. Data analysis will focus on identifying specific types of background events that are detected in the experiment.
This will inform the background model needed to correctly interpret experimental data. The data will also be compared with the results of Monte Carlo modelling. PhD student will also participate in remote shifts during detector operation.
Long-term attachment at SURF for a period of 4-12 months is expected to participate in detector operation and data monitoring.
