This PhD project will be a combined theoretical and experimental study of coupled semiconductor dots within high beta-factor nanophotonic waveguides.
Theoretical approaches and quantum optical experiments will be employed to investigate photon-mediated interactions between multiple quantum dots, exploring cooperative and superradiant behaviour in systems in which the directionality of single photon emission can be controlled by the photonic environment.
A further aim will be to study and exploit vertically-coupled quantum dots in nanophotonic waveguides, for the generation of highly entangled multi-qubit photonic states with a high repetition rate.
