This PhD project targets the modelling of sources of gravitational waves using numerical techniques on super computers.
The specific scenarios we plan to investigate involve compact binaries consisting involving black holes, a hypothetical class of compact objects called boson stars and tenuous distributions of fundamental matter fields.
The main goal is to identify observational signatures that discriminate these systems from the traditional vanilla black-hole binary sources regularly observed with LIGO-Virgo.
This will enable us to observationally infer information about the presence or absence of dark matter candidates involving fundamental fields.
