Grant Description

Joel will perform searches for Higgs Boson pair production at the LHC with the ATLAS detector. Such searches are uniquely sensitive to the Higgs field self-interaction at hadron colliders. Joel will focus on final states of di-Higgs production with b-jets and hadronically-decaying tau-leptons.

These final states have high cross sections compared to alternatives but are notoriously difficult to observe due to high backgrounds.

A key component of this project will be improving the ATLAS trigger system for signatures with multiple hadronic objects in the final state.
