Acoustic pollution in freshwaters and implications for animal communication
This PhD will provide the first investigation of the effects of acoustic pollution on the freshwater environment, and how acoustic pollution impacts the communication of a group of animals of conservation concern. This research will quantify the levels and patterns of acoustic pollution from road bridges to rivers and streams. Using the collected information the relationship between road bridge design and the transfer of acoustic energy to freshwater environments will be investigated along with how this may impact mate selection of specified species.
