The project will focus on applications of modern radio frequency analogue and high-speed digital technology in physics experiments.
The student will design and prototype several modular building blocks, in both hardware and software, to address rapid system design needs in such areas of science as accelerator physics and instrumentation, quantum technology, communications - all active research directions within EPMS. This kit will be tested in real world applications of accelerator diagnostics and signal processing, and specifications adjusted to achieve the required performance of the instrumentation.
The work will be carried out in collaboration with the Quantum group in Physics as the project ultimately aims to address the demand in this kind of hardware and processing towards large scale quantum computers.
