This research, therefore, will examine the relationship between different variables of the food environment and childhood obesity in the Southwark Borough of London.
In particular, the study will consider the personal food environment dimensions such as household income, caregivers', and children's behaviours as well as the external food environment.
The study's outputs will offer valuable insights into the intricate interactions that lead to childhood obesity by analysing survey data on children's feeding behaviours from their caregivers and mapping data on food environments such as the density of certain food outlets such as convenience stores, supermarkets, take away outlets among others and exposure to processed or sugary food advertisements.
The goal of this research is to better understand these aspects to inform interventions that address childhood obesity using a systems approach and the use of evidence.
