JAXA's upcoming MMX sample return mission to Mars' Phobos, will launch in 2024 and return samples from the surface of Phobos in 2029.
This project will use the extensive range of meteorites in the Natural History Museum's collection to prepare for the mission's arrival at Phobos by measuring analogue material for comparison with the observations made by the MMX spacecraft ahead of samples returning to Earth in 2029.
