The Cherenkov Telescope Array is the next generation of ground-based gamma-ray telescope array, and will afford us unprecedented sensitivity and energy/spatial resolution. However, it will also introduce new calibration challenges. This PhD project will make significant contributions to addressing these calibration challenges.
Specifically, the student will characterize the camera flasher calibration systems of CTA's small-sized-telescopes, as well as contribute to refining the UAV calibration technique.
Exploratory work will also occur to investigate whether these calibration systems can be adapted for other Astro particle experiments.
