We will experimentally investigate the use of single photons to implement and enhance current quantum communications protocols.
Emphasis will be given to recent protocols such as measurement-device-independent and twin-field quantum key distribution.
Single photons will be generated mainly by spontaneous parametric down conversion of laser radiation through a highly nonlinear crystal.
