The Foundations for Evidence-Based Policymaking Act of 2018 ("Evidence Act"), signed into law on January 14, 2019, emphasizes collaboration and coordination to advance data and evidence-building functions in the Federal Government by statutorily mandating Federal evidence-building activities, open government data, and confidential information protection and statistical efficiency. ..More specifically, the Evidence Act requires CFO Act agencies to 1) undertake capacity assessments to provide senior officials with information needed to advance data and evidence-building functions in the Federal Government, 2) develop agency-wide learning agendas to address priority research questions relevant to current and future policies and programs, and 3) generate annual evaluation plans to support effective and efficient government by requiring methodical and strategic thinking about how evaluation can help answer an agencys priority questions..
