An estimated 1.5 million people die prematurely each year from breathing dangerous levels of indoor smoke from cooking with solid fuels.

This work is to support coordination and implementation of the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women, and protect the environment by creating a thriving global market for clean and efficient household cooking solutions.

The Alliance is led by the United Nations Foundation with support from several Federal Agencies, foreign governments and the private sector.
