The objective of this project is to reduce emissions of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), a group of potent GHGs used as alternatives to ozone-depleting substances in the refrigeration, air-conditioning, foam blowing industries, and other sectors.
Activities will focus in key geographical regions, particularly Asia, where increased demand in equipment such as for refrigeration and air-conditioning increases potential emissions of high global-warming HFCs used as refrigerants.
These activities will engage developing countries through workshops, meetings, and training opportunities to fully consider alternative technologies, policy options, and improve capacity to develop national or regional approaches to meet the objectives of avoided HFC emissions.
