U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA): Civil Enforcement

EPAs civil enforcement program's overarching goal is to protect human health and the environment by targeting enforcement actions according to the degree of health and environmental risk in order to promote compliance with federal environmental statutes and regulations.

These activities include data gathering and analysis information to determine high priority noncompliance or environmental problems on which to focus federal, state, trial or local attention; inspections and investigations; and compliance assistance.
