Grant Description

Support implementation of model demonstration projects under the UNEP-GEF Program/Russian National Program of Action "Arctic" to remove comtaminant sources due to anthropogenic pollution in the Arcti Region.

Specific projects to be funded include reduction of PM and dioxins/furans from pulp and paper industry, removal of sources of hazardous waste from Franz Josef Land, collection and recycling of hazardous waste in the Dola Bay/Murmansk Region, and removal and replacement of two RTGs strategically placed along the Northern Sea Route. (V)
