Grant Description

For environmental governance capacity building in the Middle East Region. Countries include: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, UAE and Yeman.

EPA efforts are focused on building capacity in target countries on good domestic environmental governance, including effective environmental legal and enforcement regimes, transparency and public participation, integrated environmental impact assessment decision making processes, effective standard-setting, access to information and justice, effective measures to combat corruption in the environmental sector, and the capacity to measure the effectiveness of environmental laws and enforcement programs.
