This activity will support the development of a national biosecurity program for both backyard and commercial pig farmers in the Dominican Republic as well as other entities in the pig value chain.
It will include baseline studies to determine areas at high-risk for exposure to African swine fever and development of standard operating procedures for farmers, markets, and slaughterhouses; draft biosecurity legislation for consideration; and information systems and outreach materials. The project will also support implementation of biosecurity activities in select high-risk areas.
