Grant Description

Activity 1: Poultry Health Training for poultry veterinarians in cooperation with the Indonesian Poultry Veterinarian Association (IPVA).

APHIS Jakarta conducted training in West Java and wants to expand the training to other major poultry production areas in East Java, Central Java, and Lampung in southern Sumatra. The target areas along with West Java are the major commercial poultry producers in Indonesia. The target audiences for the trainings are poultry veterinarians from industry, government and small producers.

The trainings are registered as continuing education credits under the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA). The requested funding will cover the preparation phase and implementation of the Poultry Health Training.

Activity 2: 10/18-12/21/2011 In the initial phase the Jakarta Ag-Scientist visited one district in West Java Province to develop a relationship with a local poultry company and to implement a biosecurity risk assessment with some of the company's contract grower farms.
