The five day University of the West Indies Plant Quarantine Officer Pilot Training Course included learning best practices on a spectrum of plant quarantine operations and activities based on the International Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs).
The training aimed to improve plant quarantine principles and procedures to safeguard the region from the entry and establishment of exotic plant pests and diseases.
The five day course trained PPQ Officers in providing an understanding of the International underpinning of modern phytosanitary actions and the two most important international agreements that affect trade in agriculture products.
Passenger boarding procedures, inspection of documents and passenger baggage handling procedures at ports of entry were also covered. From 09/15/2011 to 09/19/2011.
