Grant Description
The Plant Health Director of the Brazilian Minister of Agriculture MAPA requested a subject matter expert to make a presentation for MAPA plant health officials during their annual meeting. The title of the presentation was "The Use of Pest Risk Assessment as a Decision Tool".
Following the presentation, the APHIS SME participated in a one week workshop organized by MAPA-DSV to enhance their technicians' capacity on developing science based pest risk assessments. Brazilian deficiency in pest risk analysis resulted in the restriction of the importation of U.S. plants for planting.
