Grant Description

Under the overall guidance and program responsibility of the Head, FAO Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD)/FAO an APHIS laboratory quality management expert was invited to provide a five day refresher training for laboratory personnel in Eastern Africa on the theoretical aspects and practical implementation of quality assurance management in veterinary diagnostic laboratories for laboratory accreditation.

Training included: writing and practice of SOPs by way of document creation; establishing and monitoring of controls, handling of test failures and implementation of corrective actions.

There were ten participants from the following countries: Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan North, Sudan South, Somalia, Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda. From 06/27/2011 to 07/02/2011.
