The USDA-DTRA program selected two APHIS subject matter experts for participation in a technical visit to Ukraine to develop the training plan for veterinary epidemiology training for 2011-12.
The veterinary epidemiology meetings discussed training needs and contributed toward a better understanding of what theory and practical examples should be emphasized in the training. Ukraine country context.
The technical visit involved meetings with the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service (SVPS) (formerly, SCVMU) and DOD local contractor Black & Veatch (BV). FAS/Kyiv also participated in meetings as necessary. Defined areas of veterinary epidemiology were identified including priority pathogens/diseases important to Ukraine.
