The OIE requested an APHIS expert to participate in a technical meeting and workshop with ASEAN country member states to review technical protocols for the Risk Analysis process for veterinary vaccines.
This meeting was a follow-up to the 2009 OIE Regional Workshop on Risk Analysis for Import, Distribution and Handling of Animal Vaccines held in Malaysia.
The workshop focused on the risk analysis methodology used in veterinary vaccines and the harmonization of (16) Asian countries' risk analysis policies and procedures with guidelines from the OIE Manual of Diagnostics and Vaccines.
APHIS provided a subject matter expert to present the USDA, APHIS risk analysis methodology and to lead group exercises and discussion in case studies.
The objective of the program was to strengthen APHIS safeguarding systems in other countries to include the use of only safe, effective and approved animal vaccines. From 03/01/2011 to 03/03/2011.
