Risk Analysis for Animal Health Course - Risk analysis is a key component in domestic disease control and international trade.
Developing risk analysis skills would improve a countries' ability to mitigate disease risks and potentially enhance trading capacity.
The USDA-APHIS-VS- Centers for Epidemiology and Animal Health hosts the OIE's collaborating center for risk analysis, surveillance, and disease modeling.
The course for international participants focused on the basic skills of risk analysis and participants learned the tools necessary to conduct risk analyses in their own countries, and will follow OIE guidelines on qualitative risk analysis. Attendees included the following countries: Russia, Ukraine, Kenya, Thailand, Moldova, Kazakhstan, and Georgia.
