Grant Description

APHIS participates in the CaribVET Steering Committee Meeting composed of the Chief Veterinary Officers (CVOs) of the Caribbean, representatives of regional/international organizations, research institutes and donor agencies.

The Committee meets once a year to review the reports presented by the Technical Working Groups (TWGs), which include, among others: Avian Influenza/Avian Diseases, Classical Swine Fever (CSF), Epidemiology, Laboratory diagnostics and quality assurance.

During the Meetings, the CVOs establish the animal health priorities, including information, financial, technical and emergency response needs.

The participation of U.S. officials has improved information exchange with Caribbean countries, academic institutions and international organizations.

The main objective of the meeting is to present the activities conducted by each of the Technical Working Groups and to provide recommendations in terms of priorities, activities and funding availability. From 03/19/2011 to 03/22/2011.
