ATF Forensic Firearms Serial Number Restoration Course; This 3-day technical course provides participants with the fundamentals of serial number restoration, primarily for firearms.
ATF Forensic Laboratory personnel provide approximately half-day of classroom instruction and a day and a half of practical work applying what has been learned.
The course covers all aspects of magnetic, chemical and electrolytic techniques, as well as the ATF firearms tracing process and its benefits.
Students should be forensic personnel in a foreign law enforcement or military component working in relation to firearms investigations. Instructors provide some supplies necessary to adequately institute the techniques that are taught.
