I propose to write a creative work that will exemplify Giorgio Agamben's proposition that 'poetry and philosophy are actually internal to each other' (Agamben, 2018). My work will stand as both an alternative form of philosophical criticism and a formally innovative and richly musical work of poetry.
My work will consist of 48 pieces, each consisting of three interrelated elements: (1) a prose section which will primarily engage with Agamben's work on voice and language; (2) a poetic 'prelude' exploiting the voiced character of poetry; (3) a poetic 'fugue' exploring formal analogies between poetry and music.
