During the last decades, Science Diplomacy[1] has become an emerging area in scientific and policy spheres.
Albeit its current fragmentation, there is also momentum for systematizing this field with great promise for advancing inclusive and sustainable development.
GESDA has identified a unique opportunity to consolidate Science Diplomacy as a recognizable educational and professional pathway, developing a Global Curriculum for Science and Diplomacy (GCSD), by building an international coalition of diverse partners, that will co-create its content, training offerings and delivery mechanisms.
Future users will have the knowledge, skills, and anticipatory approaches demanded by the institutions of the multilateral system and required for navigating a world where science and technology are driving major (geo) economic, societal and (geo) political changes.
The transformational impact of the GCSD will be reflected in a more effective multilateral system, innovative policy making and future-proof governance, including for the health sector, where local and global actions benefit all of humanity.
Footnote [1]: In its first and most widely accepted definition by AAAS and the Royal Society (2010), Science diplomacy is ‘the use of scientific cooperation between nations to address common problems and build constructive international partnerships.
