New and re-emerging diseases spread quickly across the globe, resulting in outbreaks that overwhelm health systems and upend lives and economies. The U.S.
Agency for International Development (USAID) prioritizes global health security (GHS) and is placing renewed emphasis on local organizations as key to the long-term sustainability of its development work and to preventing, detecting, and responding to infectious disease threats.
As part of these efforts, the Localize Global Health Security (LGHS) project helps local health actors access resources and strengthen their capacity to identify and respond to pandemic threats. Through this work, we build more resilient health systems, improve health security, and save lives.
