The WHO Global Ethics Unit is part of the newly formed Science Division and would like to capitalize on the potential of the division and the global leadership shown by the team during the current COVID-19 pandemic, to truly embed ethics at the heart of decision-making at WHO. This proposal focuses on adding value to our current work programme.
Additional technical and coordinating capacity will allow us to better leverage our vast bioethics networks and collaborative partnership with bioethics groups around the world to: support regional and in-country bioethics capacity needs; further develop a community of ethics experts; develop the global ethics agenda and focus on key areas of unmet or continuing need, including health emergency preparedness and response.
Additional resource will also allow us to be more responsive to demand set by the WHO and global research and health communities.
