Wellcome Trust and IDRC will be supporting the building of an agenda for action on the transition to a zero-carbon food system in Latin America.
This work will be conducted in parallel to the work conducted by the Rockefeller Foundation and IDRC in East Africa, which aims to “improve the health and wellbeing of low-income and vulnerable populations who face the double burden of malnutrition and environmental threats like climate change” (see annexed document for more information).
The work conducted in both regions are part of a growing initiative entitled “Catalysing change for healthy and sustainable food systems”, launched by the three institutions.
The initiative will provide research grants to leading evidence builders in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with the aim of strengthening the contribution and engagement of LMIC research and civil society institutions in regional and global discussions about healthy and sustainable food systems.
