Grant Description

Promoting Civic Engagement and Peace (PCEP) Activity is designed to be USAID/South Sudan's primary vehicle for flexible and creative conflict mitigation, peacebuilding, and civil society strengthening initiatives in South Sudan.

It takes into account lessons learned from over ten years of USAID Democracy & Governance and Conflict Mitigation programming across South Sudan.

The purpose of PCEP is to empower citizen actors across a wide range of contexts and populations in South Sudan to advance peace, stability, and dialogue through local solutions, civic participation, and increased access to information in South Sudan.

This will help to mitigate conflict, advance reconciliation efforts, and bolster civil society actors and organizations at local and national levels.

PCEP will help USAID/South Sudan progress toward its overall goal to "build a foundation for a more stable and socially cohesive South Sudan" by empowering citizen and community actors who have been deeply affected by the current conflict.
