Grant Description

On June 24, 2004, during the visit of the Chinese Vice President, Zeng Qinghong, two Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreements (ETCAs) were signed with the Togolese President, Gnassingbe Eyadema. One ETCA provided a grant while the other provided an interest-free loan (see Record ID#13867).

The allocation and amount for this grant was unspecified, although the "Joint Communique of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Togo," reports that it will be used to resolve funding problems of projects agreed to by the two countries.

Additionally, during the visit a framework agreement was signed regarding a preferential loan for the Adjarala Hydroelectric Dam project (see Record ID#2170).
