Grant Description

YouthMappers is a global community of university students, faculty and scholars who create and use open geographic data to address locally-defined development challenges worldwide.

The YouthMappers program aligns with the GeoCenter's objective of creating geospatial data in support of Agency mapping and analysis needs.

The next generation of the YouthMappers program seeks to, enhance development outcomes by creating foundation geospatial data in unmapped places, and making it available for design and implementation of USAID's programs; drive economic development with new data sets about basic infrastructure (roads, buildings, etc.) at the local scale; improve the quality and completeness of the open mapping platform (OpenStreetMap) used by YouthMappers for geospatial data production; improve workforce capacity of current and future open geospatial data producers and users; support analysis and application of the geospatial data created by YouthMappers.
