Grant Description

Building on the 2016-2018 Sharekna pilot activity, TRACE will expand USAID's efforts to build resilience in Tunisia's most marginalized and vulnerable communities.

Resilience under TRACE emphasizes each community's ability to manage social, political, and economic stressors, including the drivers of violent extremism.

In each community, the activity will partner with young people and local stakeholders to identify local-level challenges, develop community-driven actions to address those challenges, and then support the implementation of those actions.

TRACE will catalyze constructive youth engagement and action, provide resources to youth and community stakeholders to implement concrete activities to improve their communities, and build the capacity of local civil society organizations to collaborate with youth and community stakeholders so that they can continue to identify and address local challenges in the future.

The activity will also leverage USAID's larger job creation and service delivery improvement activities, providing an important anchor to leverage other USG programming in these difficult communities.

TRACE will support at least 30 communities over the life of the project, including ongoing support for the Sharekna-supported marginalized communities of Cite Ettadhamen, Douar Hicher, El Kef, and Sidi Bouzid.
