The objective of the NPSP task order under the Power Africa Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract is to support the government's Power Sector Recovery Plan launched in March 2017, that includes a series of policy, operational, and financial interventions to improve the viability of the country's power sector, and to promote Power Africa's three strategic pillars: a) increasing power generation; b) connections; and c) unlocking the energy potential by partnering with governments and the private sector.
The NPSP will be Power Africa's principal mechanism for attaining these goals by advancing private sector transactions; grid extension; off-grid solutions; and improving the enabling environment for private sector investment in, and sustainable management of, the power sector.
The NPSP will focus on the following four core outcomes: 1: Increase private and public investment in gas supply, power generation, and transmission to increase the megawatt capacity available on grid. 2: Additional off-grid business and consumer connections to cleaner power supply increased, primarily through developing the off-grid solar market. 3: Unlock potential generation through improving the enabling environment for private sector participation in the power sector. 4: Liquidity in the sector improved through distribution loss reduction, increased payment throughout the value chain, settlement of debts, and facilitating access to capital, in order to enable new grid connections.
