The closing of public space is creating a challenging environment for civil society and media in Bangladesh to monitor and advocate for government accountability and transparency.
This activity plans to strengthen civil society capacity to contest closing space from an increasingly authoritarian regime.
USAID will support civil society in protecting democratic norms and promoting political participation to foster greater tolerance.
This new activity will create an enabling environment for civil society to strengthen partnerships with government interlocutors to improve protection for individuals and organizations promoting civic and democratic rights.
The activity will improve citizens' participation and advocacy while making democracy more accountable, inclusive, transparent, and responsive to the needs of Bangladeshis.
By empowering citizens to exercise their legal rights and participate in political processes, democratic institutions and civil discourse are promoted.
