Grant Description

On August 6, 2002, the Chinese Government agreed to donate 4,500 tons of yellow maize to the Government of Zambia to alleviate famine. The monetary value of this donation is unknown. The purpose of this donation was to help the Zambian authorities deal with a shortfall of about 175,000 tons of maize.

The maize was officially delivered and handed over to the authorities on September 16, 2003.
