Higher Education Scholarships Program (HES) - Lebanese American University (LAU)

In FY 2018, USAID/Lebanon awarded the new Higher Education Scholarship (HES) to extend scholarship support to academically meritorious yet economically disadvantaged students, enabling them to attend American universities in Lebanon that promote critical thinking, tolerance, diversity and freedom of expression.

Funds are expected to incrementally fund the new HES award with the Lebanese American University (LAU). The activity supports at least 192 students from public and private secondary schools in four cohorts.

Each year, the Higher Education Scholarships Program under LAU will provide scholarships to 48 students that represent one cohort.

HES covers full undergraduate tuition, stipends, housing or transportation allowance, books and medical insurance, for studies in majors that have high prospects for meaningful employment. The activity contributes to improved job readiness and ultimately helps youth improve their income potential. This activity attributes to the higher education earmark and is directed by Congress.
