Grant Description

The Carter Center's overall goal is to strengthen Kenya's democratic institutions, support key Kenyan stakeholders in efforts towards genuine elections, and promote credible, peaceful general elections.The project objectives are to provide an impartial assessment of the long-term electoral process and to shape perceptions of key national, regional and international stakeholders regarding the quality, credibility and inclusivity of the Aug. 8, 2017 elections.Planned Outputs:.- In-depth assessment of the electoral environment (political, legal, and administrative aspects conducted in the pre-election, campaign and e-day periods).- Independent public statements released based on election mission assessments, highlighting key issues and potential challenges to the process.- Constructive political dialogue facilitated between key electoral actors.- Recommendations offered for electoral reform and improvements for future electoral processes.
