Grant Description

On January 5, 2009, the Chinese Government provided a $7.28 million grant to the Government of Ghana for for Teshie General Hospital Construction project. The total cost of the project was $13 million, with the additional funding coming from the Government of Ghana. This project involved the construction of a 100-bed comprehensive hospital that is located in the west of Teshie City.

China Geo-Engineering Corporation was the contractor responsible for implementation. A groundbreaking ceremony took place on April 29, 2009. Construction began in April 2009 and ended in October 2010. The project was officially completed and handed over to the authorities on December 21, 2010. Media reports suggest that Teshie General Hospital was understaffed and in poor condition as of 2012.
