Grant Description

Sustainable WASH Systems Initiative (SWS) will continue to work in four countries (Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda) to test methods of building local systems for WASH service delivery while undertaking systematic and rigorous evidenced-based learning across all countries.

SWS, led by the University of Colorado, Boulder, is aimed at developing, testing, and sharing evidence on systems change approaches to improving the sustainability of WASH services.

The initiative will target two primary outcomes: (1) improve the sustainability of future USAID WASH investments, and (2) catalyze national and international uptake of successful systems-based approaches.

The results of this activity will support further USAID programming aimed at developing sound management and sustainable delivery of water and sanitation services, leading to more stable, accountable and transparent governance structures at the community, district and national levels.
