Grant Description

Promoting More Competitive, Fair and Inclusive Electoral Environment for 2016-2018 Election Cycle in Georgia activity works towards improving systemic, legislative, and institutional safeguards for a transparent and free electoral process through the use of monitoring and legal assistance mechanisms.

With FY 2017 funds the activity will monitor and report on the work of law enforcement bodies and courts during the local election period. It will deliver evidence-based recommendations to improve the election environment.

The activity will promote uniform electoral dispute litigation and empower independent candidates through providing legal support on strategic cases.

It will also engage in monitoring and research-based advocacy with the aim to increase compliance of Georgian legislation and practice with international election standards.

The activity will work towards increasing the competitiveness of elections by engaging women, persons with disabilities and ethnic minorities.
