Grant Description

IHSAN will scale-up evidence-based nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation interventions to improve the nutritional status of women of reproductive age and children under age five, focusing on the first 1,000 days of life.

IHSAN will contribute to a reduction of anemia among women of reproductive age by at least 10 percent, and a reduction in stunting by at least five percent. Results will be measured by the National Nutrition Survey.

IHSAN will support three objectives: (1) to enhance MoPH capacity to institutionalize nutrition programs; (2) to increase adoption of optimal nutrition and hygiene behaviors at community levels; and (3) to increase availability of nutrition and sanitation products and services. The Work Plan will emphasize activities related to good hygiene and sanitation.

To ensure host-country ownership, IHSAN will work within the existing government systems using an integrated multi-sectoral approach.
